Masters Invitees: There are eleven players in the field this week that are scheduled to play in next week’s Masters Tournament including Cameron Champ, Corey Conners, Ryan Fox, Tyrrell Hatton, Kazuki Higa, Si Woo Kim, Chris Kirk, Hideki Matsuyama, Francesco Molinari, Alex Noren and Sepp Straka. If the winner here is not already in the Masters, he will receive an invitation.

PGA TOUR Winners Past Two Years: A total of 28 players, who have won in the past two years are in the field, including winners this year—Nico Echavarria (Puerto Rico Open), Si Woo Kim (Sony Open in Hawaii) Chris Kirk (Honda Classic), Matt Wallace (Corales Puntacana Championship).

Total PGA TOUR Wins: As a whole, the field has accumulated 186 career PGA TOUR victories. Davis Love III leads the group with 21 wins followed by Matt Kuchar (9), Stewart Cink (8), Hideki Matsuyama (8).

Major Champions: There are eight major championship winners in the field: Stewart Cink, Jason Dufner, Lucas Glover, Padraig Harrington, Davis Love III, Hideki Matsuyama, Francesco Molinari, Jimmy Walker.

Coming To Valero Hot: Matt Wallace, who won his first TOUR event Sunday will be in San Antonio this week. Wallace, from England, edged Denmark’s Nicolai Hojgaard, who is also playing here, by one stroke. Eighteen players in the field competed in last week’s WGC-Dell Match Play, including VTO defending champion J.J. Spaun, who reached the Round of 16 along with Matt Kuchar and Andrew Putnam.

Past Champions: Along with defending champion J.J. Spaun, those on the past champions list who are back in town are Corey Conners (2019), Andrew Landry (2018), Kevin Chappell (2017), Charley Hoffman (2016), Jimmy Walker (2015), and Martin Laird (2013).

Monday Qualifiers: The final four spots in the field of 144 players competing in the Valero Texas Open was up for grabs Monday. The Monday Qualifier, conducted by the Southern Texas PGA, was held at Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club on the Blackjack Couse. David Carey (65), Peter Kuest (66), Austin Truslow (67), Peter Lansburgh (68) are the final players to qualify for the VTO. A reminder, Corey Conners Monday qualified in 2019 and went on to win the tournament.

Ryder Cup Captains: Three players in the field have or are Ryder Cup Captains. Luke Donald, the 2023 European team Captain will compete and is joined by 2021 European Captain Padraig Harrington. Davis Love III, was Captain for the U.S. team in 2012 and 2016.
