Second Round Interview with Charles Howell III

Q. Charles, 5-under 67, excellent round of golf in some tough conditions, if we can get your comments.

CHARLES HOWELL III: Yeah, this place is hard. It's really, it's a driving golf course is what it is. If you can get the ball in play off the tees, you can score on it, but it's just so important, especially when the wind's blowing and so many holes are crosswind. The key to the golf course, and it will be this weekend, is getting the ball in play.

Q. And do you like that challenge?

CHARLES HOWELL III: I do. There's some spots out here where pars go a long way, but yeah, the guys are so good now that they still find ways to shoot low. Yeah, the speed of the greens lends itself to putting relatively aggressive still, so get the ball in play off the tee and you can still make some birdies.

Q. And just 1 back going into the weekend, just talk about how excited you are and what your goals are this weekend.

CHARLES HOWELL III: Yeah, the golf course really makes you stay in the present and where you're at. So yeah, obviously need to keep pressing to keep making birdies into the weekend, guys won't stop doing that. Yeah, if the wind blows like it is today, it will be an exciting weekend for sure.
