Six More Top Ranked Players Join the Field at Valero Texas Open
Hideki Matsuyama Making Sixth Consecutive VTO Start
SAN ANTONIO, TX — With just over 30 days remaining before the best golfers in the world arrive in San Antonio, tournament officials announced today six more top golfers scheduled to compete in the 104th Valero Texas Open. This historical PGA TOUR event returns this spring to TPC San Antonio’s The Oaks course, March 30-April 5, a week preceding the Masters Tournament.
The latest additions to the field have a combined 25 PGA TOUR victories and includes World No. 7 Russell Henley, No. 8 Robert MacIntyre, No. 12 Hideki Matsuyama, No. 13 Sepp Straka, No. 23 Ludvig Aberg and No. 25 Maverick McNealy.
Last month, tournament officials announced commitments from four of the top ten players in the World Rankings—No. 3 Tommy Fleetwood and 2025 season-long PGA TOUR FedExCup Champion; No. 4 Justin Rose a major champion and an early winner this season; No. 5 Collin Morikawa, a two-time major champion and another early winner this season; No. 10 J.J. Spaun, the reigning U.S. Open Champion and 2022 Valero Texas Open Champion.
Henley, 7th in the world, has five career wins and three top-10 finishes in four starts this season. His best finish at the Valero Texas Open is fourth in 2024. MacIntyre, ranked 8th in the world, has two TOUR titles, both in 2024 and one of those in his homeland at the Scottish Open. He was fourth in Hawaii this year and in his only start in San Antonio, he was tied for 35th in 2022. Matsuyama, the longtime top-ranked Japanese player, has eleven career wins on the PGA TOUR, including the 2021 Masters. He has two top ten finishes this year and will be playing in his sixth consecutive Valero Texas Open with his best finish a T7 in 2024.
Straka, is a four-time TOUR winner and has one top ten so far this year. This will be his fourth start here and first since a top 25 in 2023. Åberg, the 26-year-old from Sweden, will be making his fourth start as well. The two-time TOUR winner’s best finish in San Antonio was a T14 in 2024. McNealy, who finished tied for third here last year, went on to record a career-high seven top-10 finishes that included five top-five finishes last season. World No. 25 also captured his first TOUR title last year.
Brian Harman is scheduled to defend his 2025 title this spring.
PGA TOUR competitors in the 132-player field have until Friday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m. Central Time to commit and can withdraw at any time.

The Valero Texas Open’s long-standing tradition of celebrating “Military City, USA” continues this year as active military, wounded veterans, and corporate supporters gather Friday night of tournament week on April 3 for this annual military appreciation banquet.
- Champions fore Charity: Champions fore Charity is a fundraising program that provides participating charities and schools the opportunity to generate contributions through the Valero Texas Open. The Champions fore Charity program, along with Benefit for Children and Valero Texas Open raised a record $25 million, bringing the grand total to $281 million in charitable funds raised from Valero Texas Open tournament proceeds.
The 2026 fundraising campaign is presently underway and will conclude April 13. Over 230 participating charities and school programs have already raised over $11.7 million to date. At the conclusion of the fundraiser, the charities will also receive several financial incentives including a 7% matching gift provided by the Valero Texas Open. - Volunteer Opportunities: Opportunities are still available for individuals looking to support our charitable mission or interested in a behind-the-scenes look at conducting a PGA TOUR tournament. The Valero Texas Open utilizes approximately 2,200 volunteers across twenty-four committees to assist in staging and managing the tournament through its Volunteer Program presented by Frost Bank. Nearly 700 Valero employees are part of this volunteer effort.
