Final Round Interview with Andrew Putnam

Q. Not the way you wanted to finish this golf tournament, if you get a chance to reflect you have to be proud of the way you played today, won't you?

ANDREW PUTNAM: Yeah, once I get that chance. It stings right now. Caught a little flyer lie on that last shot. It was the club I needed to hit to make a birdie. I played great golf. It was tough. It was raining all day and windy and cold. Yeah, I hit a lot of good shots. Kind of a bummer how the last few played out.

Q. Yeah, I was wondering, I thought it had to be a flyer, right? Was that a 9‑iron you hit in there?

ANDREW PUTNAM: No, I had 165 and it was playing 180 or something, it was a little just punch 6. That's kind of how far I've been hitting them all day. I guess it dried out in the rough a little and it flew on me.

Q. And that downslope in the bunker, that's a nearly impossible shot, wasn't it?

ANDREW PUTNAM: Yeah, I was just dead there. Yeah, it's tough. It's basically an impossible up‑and‑down. Bummer to finish that way, but good tournament overall.

Q. I'm going to tell you what's not a bummer. You've got some great kids there. I just had a chance, I saw some kids, I said, Which one's your dad? He said, The fellow there climbing in the bunker. I said, You guys must be proud. He said, We are proud, he's playing great. That's got to make you feel at least pretty good?

ANDREW PUTNAM: Yeah, it's been fun to have the family here this week. This is probably the best week for the kids with the pool and all the activities they have to do, so they've been having a great time.
