Please click below to RSVP for either session.
Birdies for Charity® is a fundraising program designed in 1997, to give participating charities and schools the opportunity to generate contributions through the Valero Texas Open. Birdies for Charity is a no-cost program that gives 100% of the funds raised back to the participating organization. Funds are generated by soliciting pledges from individuals and corporations.
Birdies for Charity is like a walk-a-thon, but instead of donating per mile, participants make a pledge for every birdie made at the Valero Texas Open. The 2017 Valero Texas Open had 1,975 birdies made, so a pledge of $0.01 yielded a donation of $19.75.
Donors also have the ability to make a one-time donation and flexibility to pay in advance or to be billed after the tournament. Donations are accepted from anywhere around the world and are tax deductible.
Registration for the 2018 fundraising program is underway. The 2018 campaign will launch October 23, 2017 and conclude April 26, 2018.
What is a birdie?
In golf, “par” is the normal expected score on any given hole. Every one of the 18 holes on a golf course has its own “par” assigned to it. A “birdie” is one stroke under par for a hole, possibly derived from the term “It flew like a bird” to indicate a good shot.
Ex. Par 5 on Hole 18 at TPC San Antonio, AT&T Oaks Course, a Birdie would be 4, an Eagle would be 3, and a Double Eagle would be 2 strokes (hits) to get the ball in from the tee box, onto the green and into the hole.
“Guess the Birdies” Contest
To add excitement, donors can participate in the “Guess the Birdies” contest. Participants simply guess how many birdies will be made from Monday and Wednesday’s pro-ams on the host course (AT&T Oaks Course) and Saturday’s pro-am (AT&T Canyons Course) including amateurs and pros. In addition, the birdies made by the pros, Thursday-Sunday of competition are included in the total number of birdies made during the Valero Texas Open tournament week.
The individual with the correct guess wins the grand prize, a Stay-and-Play Package to TPC San Antonio and JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort. Ties are determined through a tiebreaker event. And if no one guesses correctly, the computer will randomly select the grand prize winner.
The Stay-and-Play Gift Package includes a three (3) night stay at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country along with 2 rounds of golf for two at TPC San Antonio, spa service for two and breakfast for two each morning. The golf rounds or spa service may be traded for a dinner for two in 18 Oaks Steak House.
Attend the Valero Texas Open, April 19-22, 2018 at TPC San Antonio and stop by the Donation Station in Fan Fest at main gate entrance. As a donor, check in and get entered into a drawing to earn the charity you supported a $20,000 donation in your honor. Each day attended, earns additional entries into the drawing. The lucky donor will also win a wonderful and exciting prize of their own to enjoy.
