Matt Kuchar, Charley Hoffman and Recent Winner Adam Long Latest Player Commitments to the Valero Texas Open

SAN ANTONIO, TX – With less than 40 days remaining until tournament week, Valero Texas Open officials announced today three more PGA TOUR champions pledging to participate in San Antonio.

Matt Kuchar, a two-time winner this season and currently ranked No. 22 in the world, will be making his eighth consecutive appearance here. Kuchar has posted three top-15 finishes during this stretch, including a tie for fourth in 2014. The nine-time PGA TOUR winner, who won the Mayakoba Golf Classic and the Sony Open in Hawaii earlier this season, is currently second in the season-long FedExCup points race.

The Valero Texas Open’s 2016 champion Charley Hoffman becomes the sixth past champion to join the field. Hoffman has played in the Valero Texas Open 14 consecutive times, has never missed the cut and has finished in the top-15 ten times. Since 2010, when the tournament moved to TPC San Antonio, Hoffman is a collective 39 under par and during that stretch has finished in the top-15 seven times.

Adam Long is a 31-year-old rookie on the PGA TOUR. Long edged Phil Mickelson last month to win the Desert Classic for his first PGA TOUR victory. The New Orleans native turned pro after a collegiate career at Duke and played on both the Web.com Tour and Mackenzie Tour in Canada. He gained status on the PGA TOUR this season by finishing among the top 25 on the Web.Com Tour in 2018.

With the addition of Kuchar, the field now includes four of the top 25 players in the world who have made early commitments. Earlier, Rickie Fowler (No.9), Tony Finau (No.12) and Jordan Spieth (No.24) joined the field.

In addition, U.S. Open champions Jim Furyk, Graeme McDowell and PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner are in the field. Hoffman joins past champions, Andrew Landry (2018), Kevin Chappell (2017), Jimmy Walker (2015), Martin Laird (2013) and Brendan Steele (2011). San Antonio residents Cameron Champ and Abraham Ancer are also in the field.

The 2019 edition of the Valero Texas Open, which is scheduled for April 4-7 at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course, will be the first of a 10-year contract extension between the PGA TOUR and Valero Energy Corporation; a deal which positions the tournament in a coveted slot on the TOUR schedule the week preceding the Masters Tournament.

Players have until Friday, March 29 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time to commit to the Valero Texas Open. They can withdraw from the tournament at any time.
