The Valero Texas Open celebrated this storied tournament in April with the victory of Brian Harman who picked up his fourth PGA TOUR victory in his 377th start at the age of 38 years, 2 months, 18 days; oldest winner on TOUR since Patton Kizzire won the 2024 Procore Championship at the age of 38 years, 6 months, 12 days (2014 John Deere Classic, 2017 Truist Championship, 2023 Open Championship, 2025 Valero Texas Open.
In 2024, Akshay Bhatia was the first lefthander to win the Valero Texas Open since Eric Axley in 2006; first lefthander to win on the PGA TOUR since he (Barracuda Championship) and Brian Harman (Open Championship) did so on the same day in July of 2023. Interestingly enough, golf is the only thing Brian Harman does left-handed and always uses a quarter to mark his ball.
During his post-round interview, Brian Harman shared, "I've had to learn lessons the hard way with a bunch of failures across my career where you look back at a tournament, like gosh, if I could have just kept my cool for a little bit longer, if I could have just hung in there for a little bit longer, maybe I could have made a run.
So I just tried really hard today to not let my emotions get out in front. As much as I wanted to think about winning and holding the trophy and calling my wife and telling her how happy I was, you don't get to do that until the job's done. Just left foot, right foot, finish the job and then you get to have fun."

 | Hole-In-One at Valero Texas Open | |
| |
During Round 2 on Friday, April 4 in the afternoon, Tony Finau, made a memorable hole-in-one on hole 16. Affectionately called the "avocado hole" for the iconic bunker in the middle of the green which is nestled and wrapped around by hospitality venues, the roaring of crowds and fans cheering erupted breaking the silence as Finau sunk his ball and claimed the first and only hole-in-one this year on hole 16. The excitement was electric as fans continued to cheer, share social posts, and high-five one another.
The team at North Park Lexus San Antonio and Dominion, represented by Elizabeth Cox, was excited to greet him at the conclusion of Round 3 by presenting him with his all-new Lexus TX as part of the hole-in-one prize exclusively held on hole 16 throughout the tournament. Finau was completely shocked by the exciting news that after the presentation, he took the car keys with him up to the driving range not realizing it was representative of the one he'd receive after the tournament.
During the presentation on Saturday afternoon, Finau commented that it was "a memorable hole-in-one, I'll never forget it. And now I'll have something to remember it by with a new car, so that's pretty cool!"
