In its 95th year, the 2017 edition of the Valero Texas Open proved yet again what an enthusiastic and supportive community can accomplish when coming together for a common purpose – gaining brand exposure, entertaining guests and business partners, enjoying time with friends and family, and, of course, raising significant funds for worthy charities across South Texas and well beyond.
Thanks to such broad community support, the tournament continues to cement its place as a premier stop on the PGA TOUR;
| Showcasing the talents of many of the world’s top golfers including Defending Champion Charley Hoffman, Jimmy Walker, Matt Kuchar, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka, Ryan Moore, Graeme McDowell, Billy Horschel, Luke Donald, Zach Johnson, and its new champion, Kevin Chappell; | |
| Highlighting the best of San Antonio and Texas hospitality to a global television audience and tens of thousands in attendance; and | |
| Raising an unprecedented, $11 million for charity! | |
On behalf of the Valero Texas Open and Valero Energy Foundation, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation for your support and the role you played in making this year’s Valero Texas Open an extraordinary success.
We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Valero Texas Open!

| Night to Honor Our Heroes presented by Wells Fargo | |
| |
With over 1,100 guests comprised of active military representing all ranks and branches, wounded veterans, and corporate partners, the ninth annual Night to Honor Our Heroes presented by Wells Fargo filled the room to capacity.
During the program, Wells Fargo and Military Warriors Support Foundation presented a mortgage-free home to Cody Miller, and a payment-free vehicle to Jeremiah Busby, both Army veterans.
The highlight of the evening was Medal of Honor recipient, Staff Sgt. Salvatore A. Giunta, US Army, and top-ranked PGA TOUR professional and fan favorite, Matt Kuchar.
Staff Sgt. Giunta spoke about his service in his second deployment when his platoon was ambushed in the rugged Korengal Valley of eastern Afghanistan. As a result of his extraordinary gallantry, unrivalled courage and selfless leadership that day, Staff Sgt. Giunta was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barak Obama.
Matt Kuchar, seven-time PGA TOUR winner, concluded with a conversation with the evening’s host, Bill Macatee, lead anchor for CBS Sports; sharing stories of his experience as a member of the victorious 2016 U.S. Ryder Cup team and representing his country in the 2016 Rio Games, where Kuchar secured the Bronze Medal in golf’s return to the Olympics.
Following the moving and uplifting event, guests left with a renewed sense of patriotism and gratitude for those who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.
