 | 2023 Tournament Week Highlights | |
| |
The Valero Texas Open celebrated a new century of this storied tournament this past spring. At the end of a great week and exciting competition, it was Listowel, Ontario, Canada resident Corey Conners who claimed his second PGA TOUR victory, as a two-time champion of the Valero Texas Open.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, this year's Valero Texas Open, along with the Valero Benefit for Children, raised a record-breaking $23 million, bringing the grand total to $232 million in charitable giving.
The Valero Texas Open raised charitable dollars through a variety of programs including its pro-am golf tournaments, corporate sponsorships, ticket & concession sales, the Champions fore Charity program in which nonprofit organizations solicit donations with a match from tournament proceeds.
Funds were also raised through the Benefit for Children - a fundraising event in which participants enjoyed golf outings across 9 of San Antonio's premiere golf courses or a sporting clays competition, all of which was held the Monday following the Valero Texas Open.
None of this, however, would have been possible if it were not for the steadfast support of our corporate partners, volunteers, fans and spectators, and the greater San Antonio community. On behalf of the Valero Texas Open and Valero Energy Foundation, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation for your support and the role you played in making this year's Valero Texas Open an extraordinary success.

 | Guess The Champion Contest | |
| |
Donors from Champions fore Charity had the opportunity to guess at who would be the 2022 champion through the "Guess the Champion Contest". Seven (7) donors correctly guessed this year's champion, Corey Conners, for a chance to win a Stay & Play Package provided by TPC San Antonio and the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.
The winner for the Stay & Play Package was drawn and unfortunately could not attend the Celebration of Champions. However, the charity the donor supported was Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children which received an incentive bonus of $5,000!
A few weeks later tournament officials were able to make a surprise announcement in front of the students and faculty at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, where the winner, Lori Debner, is on staff in the audiology department, and presented her with the Stay & Play Package.

 | Drawing fore More Awareness | |
| |
During the fundraising campaign the Drawing fore More Awareness offered a fun way to keep participating charities and schools engaged and motivated. Throughout the seven-month campaign, charities were entered into a drawing for every $500 worth of pledges they received for a chance to win $2,500. Six (6) lucky charities earned a cumulative total of $15,000 from the Valero Texas Open tournament proceeds.
The drawings took place with the help of program ambassadors, Randy Carroll, Kimberly Crawford, and David Chancellor as they each alternated for each contest to randomly draw a qualified charity. Click on the charity names below to see the drawings that took place throughout the campaign season.
