Earlier this week on Tuesday, the Valero Texas Open hosted lunch at The Hotel Emma’s beautiful Elephant Cellar to reconnect with current sponsors and provide an opportunity for prospective sponsors to co-mingle and learn more about the partnership opportunities available through the tournament.

This Partner Luncheon was led by the Trailblazers, a volunteer group of business leaders dedicated to supporting the Valero Texas Open and its charitable mission through the sale of corporate recognition and benefit packages associated with the tournament. Trailblazers come from diverse professions and industries, providing their time, talent and energy, contributing valuable insight and a wide range of experience to the Valero Texas Open.

This intimate luncheon included special guest speaker, Lance Barrow, CBS Sports Coordinating & Lead Game Producer of Golf & NFL. Since 1997, this Texas native has produced all of CBS’ golf coverage for the PGA TOUR, including Valero Texas Open’s broadcast on CBS last year. Barrow shared his insight into the production of one of the toughest sports to broadcast since it includes 18-hole locations over hundreds of acres of land, 100+ golfers competing over four days and all the other behind the scenes details that help deliver television broadcasts to more than 1 billion households around the globe.

Barrow, a long-time friend of the tournament, thanked existing sponsors for their continuous support and encouraged other guests to consider how their respective companies can get involved.

On Saturday, January 7 the Valero Texas Open held its inaugural Volunteer Registration Tee-Off event at North Star Mall. The Volunteer Tournament Leadership Council helped recruit new volunteers and registered returning volunteers throughout the day. All those in attendance were entered into a drawing to win a variety of prizes including a Stay-and-Play Package at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, two foursomes to TPC San Antonio, Bose headphones, Nike duffel bags and many other premium VTO swag items!

Mall-goers also enjoyed putting for a chance to win other fun VTO prizes, interact with social media props and meet nationally acclaimed disc jockey Randy Carroll from KJ97 who broadcasted live during the Tee-Off event.

The success of the VTO is due in large part to the volunteers who give generously of their time, talent and energy through 30 dynamic committees. If you missed the Tee-Off event, it’s not too late to register!
