New Player Commitments & Updates
| | Graeme McDowell is the latest major championship winner to commit to the Valero Texas Open. |
G-MAC Commits: Graeme McDowell is the latest major championship winner to commit to the Valero Texas Open, April 21-24. McDowell, winner of the OHL Classic at Mayakoba during this current season stretch, will be making his second start in San Antonio. Last year, he had to withdraw in the first round due to injury. McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open champion, is currently ranked No.63 in the world. He is the eighth major championship winner and the fifth champion of the 2015-2016 season in the field at this point.
Masters Week: Six past champions of the Valero Texas Open will be competing in this week's Masters Tournament - Jimmy Walker, Steven Bowditch, Adam Scott, Zach Johnson, Mark O'Meara and Tom Watson. It is also interesting to note that a total of ten players have won both the VTO and the Masters through the years, including Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Jack Burke, Jr., Arnold Palmer, Ben Crenshaw, Watson, O'Meara, Johnson and Scott.
The Herman Story: Jim Herman, winner of the Houston Open on Sunday, is also scheduled to compete in the Valero Texas Open in less than 14 days. Herman's emotional and courageous victory in Houston captured the hearts of many sports fans as he battled down the stretch for a one-stroke victory over a stellar group of players that included World No.6 Henrik Stenson. It was Herman's first PGA TOUR victory in 106 starts and earned him a spot in this week's Masters Tournament.
Did You Know?: The last player to win four consecutive events on the PGA TOUR was Jack Burke, Jr. The Texas native did so in 1952 and he started the streak by winning the Texas Open followed by the Houston Open, Baton Rouge Open and St. Petersburg Open.

Give Back for a Chance to Win a Ford Mustang!
Everyone is invited to make a donation to their favorite charity or school through a one-time donation or by making a pledge, like a walk-a-thon, but instead of donating per mile, make a pledge for every birdie made at the Valero Texas Open. The 2015 Valero Texas Open had 2,103 birdies made, so a pledge of $0.01 yielded a donation of $21.03. 100% of the contribution made will directly benefit the selected charity or school. Help support your favorite charity or school through Birdies for Charity at ValeroTexasOpen.com.
Valero Texas Open is proud to bring back its Birdies for Charity Donation Station, located in Gatorade Fan Fest at the main spectator entrance. Donors who make a donation prior to tournament week are encouraged to attend Thursday - Sunday and check in at the Donation Station to be entered into a drawing for a two-year lease on a brand-new 2016 Ford Mustang, compliments of our partners at the South Texas Ford Dealers. Spectators that make a contribution onsite will also be entered into the drawing. Donors who register will receive one entry per day, Thursday – Sunday (i.e. when a donor attends all four days and registers their attendance each day, they will receive four entries into the drawing). In addition to the Ford Mustang, the winner of the drawing will earn their selected Birdies for Charity organization a contribution of $20,000. The winner will be announced Friday, May 13.
In addition, all donors who stop by the Donation Station and make a contribution of $10 or more will receive this year’s official Valero Texas Open Fiesta medal as a token of appreciation. We look forward to seeing you!
