TOP PLAYERS COMMIT: 2017 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year, Xander Schauffele (No. 26) and Pat Perez (No. 21) add their names to the list of those competing in this year’s Valero Texas Open, April 19-22.

OTHER NOTABLES: Major Champions,Ernie Els, Keegan Bradley, Geoff Ogilvy, reigning PLAYERS Champion, Si Woo Kim, and former World No. 1, Luke Donald have confirmed their plans to compete in the Valero Texas Open. Additionally, former University of Texas standout Beau Hossler will come to San Antonio fresh off his best finish on the PGA TOUR, solo 2nd following a playoff at last week’s Houston Open, as will Brice Garnett who recently earned his first PGA TOUR victory at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.

TOP-40 PLAYERS: With the addition of Reed, Schauffele and Finau, there are now eight players among the top-40 in the world committed to the tournament — (No. 9) Sergio Garcia, (No. 20) Matt Kuchar, (No. 21) Pat Perez, (No. 23) Brian Harman, (No. 24) Xander Schauffele, (No. 27) Francesco Molinari, (No. 28) Charley Hoffman, (No. 39) Kevin Chappell.

CHAMPIONS IN THE MASTERS THIS WEEK: Seven past champions of the Valero Texas Open will be competing at Augusta National Golf Club this week — Mark O’Meara (1990), Zach Johnson (2008-2009), Adam Scott (2010), Brendan Steele (2011), Jimmy Walker (2015), Charley Hoffman (2016), Kevin Chappell (2017).

JOAQUIN NIEMANN: Following his appearance in The Masters tournament this week, where he’ll compete as an amateur, Niemann will compete as a professional at the Valero Texas Open. Niemann is one of 20 players competing in this week’s Masters that are also currently committed to play in the Valero Texas Open.

U.S.A. ALL THE WAY: As part of its annual military appreciation platform, the Valero Texas Open’s A Night to Honor Our Heroes gala banquet will feature 2018 U.S. Ryder Cup Team Captain, Jim Furyk as a guest speaker. The event, which has been a cornerstone of the Valero Texas Open tournament week each year, will be held Friday, April 20 and will host more than 1,000 guests including members of our U.S. Armed Forces and other dignitaries. A limited number of table sponsorships remain for what should be a special evening.

MORE ON SCHAUFFELE: The 24-year-old from California had an impressive start to his TOUR career a year ago with two victories, including the season-ending TOUR Championship which vaulted him into third place on the final FedExCup standings. Voted by his peers the Rookie of the Year in 2017, he has carried some of that consistent play into this season with two early top-ten finishes. This will be his second start at the Valero Texas Open.
