Appreciation & Reflection
This May has proven to be quite unique and like no other May in the past several decades. With COVID-19 causing “stay home” and “work from home” mandates across the world, it certainly has given everyone time for self-reflection and a chance to “reset” what’s taken for granted and a chance to prioritize what’s important.

Our May edition is our chance to reflect and show our appreciation for people that are important to us… and so many more to be featured in the months ahead!

Appreciation for Mothers
Thank you to the ladies that shape us, inspire us, love us, mold us, nurture us and encourage us. We call them mom, mum, mommy, mother, stepmom, foster mom, grandma, teacher, coach, sister, aunt, and friend. Thank you for caring for us no matter how old we are; for the bumps and scratches you mend with kisses; the extra hugs when we are overwhelmed; for the tears you wipe; the laughter we share; and the grace and wisdom bestowed onto us by being our role model.

Don’t forget that this Sunday is Mother’s Day. We want to help you celebrate with activities and ideas while we #stayathome together. Ben Curtis, 2012 Valero Texas Open champion and his wife Candace shared with us “Ben’s Buttermilk Pancakes” recipe – a great Mother’s Day breakfast idea! World Golf Hall of Fame member and TPC San Antonio Oaks Course designer Greg Norman’s daughter shares their “Norman Family Roast Chicken” as a wonderful dinner idea. We hope you can enjoy these craft projects and recipes to make this Mother’s Day extra special.

National Nurses Week
Image
Now, more than ever, are the efforts of our health care professionals in the spotlight – especially nurses and doctors. As May 6th officially celebrates National Nurses Day, and May 6-12th National Nurses Week, we thought it was a great time to celebrate these heroes in our communities.

The PGA TOUR is highlighting players with nursing ties – from Mackenzie Hughes on the PGA TOUR, whose mother is on the front lines in Canada, to Taylor Pendrith on the Korn Ferry Tour whose girlfriend Meg is similarly dedicated as a nurse in the Toronto area.

We simply want to say Thank You to those making a difference in our communities. Thank you to nurses for your dedication, warmth and compassion, your sacrifices and limitless hours of service. This week we celebrate YOU nurses!

Teacher Appreciation Week
Image
Teachers, professors, educators and administrators, thank you for your time, talent, and wisdom you share with young minds. We are quickly learning while we #stayathome that teachers often feel underappreciated but truly are greatly valued. So many children left for spring break and didn’t realize what would come the weeks ahead and certainly couldn’t fathom not finishing school in their classrooms. Teachers jumped right in not missing a beat - moving to online teaching and adapting to webinars with students and class assignments being submitted electronically.

While students are missing their friends, recess, and lunch break, they are also missing their teachers terribly. You play such an important role in their education and help shape and sharpen their passion for learning. We honor you this week and know that your students cannot wait to see you in person again. Anticipate LOTS of hugs from parents and students alike when school resumes again!
