PGA TOUR Stars Commit
In conjunction with its annual Media Day recently, tournament officials announced some early player commitments including the return of last year’s champion Kevin Chappell, for the 2018 Valero Texas Open, scheduled for April 19-22 at TPC San Antonio’s AT&T Oaks Course.

Yesterday we also announced a few more to the list of commitments:

StarTEXANS IN THE FIELD: Currently there are a total of 18 players in the field who were either born or now live in the state of Texas. Of that total, eleven players committed at this stage, were born in Texas — Bronson Burgoon (The Woodlands), Chad Campbell (Andres), Brian Gay (Fort Worth), Cody Gribble (Dallas), Kelly Kraft (Denton), Sean O’Hair (Lubbock), Ryan Palmer (Amarillo), John Peterson (Fort Worth), Shawn Stefani (Baytown), and Chris Stroud (Groves).
StarANOTHER TOP-25 PLAYER: This week, Italy’s Francesco Molinari became the fifth player among the top-25 in the world to commit to the tournament. Molinari, is currently ranked 24th.

StarRISING STAR ACCEPTS SPONSOR EXEMPTION: Shubhankar Sharma, who led the World Golf Championships-Mexico last week through three rounds before finishing 9th, has accepted a sponsor exemption to play in the tournament. Sharma, a rising 21-year-old star from India, who leads the European Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings on the strength of two victories on that Tour, also accepted an invitation to play in the Masters Tournament this week.
StarLUKE LIST COMMITMENT: One of the hot players in recent weeks is Luke List, who is currently committed to compete in the Valero Texas Open, April 19-22. At the Honda Classic, List, the third-round leader, birdied the par-5 18th hole Sunday to shoot a 1-under 69 and force a playoff with Justin Thomas before eventually falling on the first extra hole. The runner-up marked List’s best finish on the PGA TOUR. Also, with 15 birdies during the week, List brought his total birdie count to 556 since the start of last season, the most on TOUR during that span.
StarFEDEXCUP CHAMPION: Bill Haas, the 2011 FedExCup champion and winner of six career PGA TOUR titles, has committed. Haas joins Billy Horschel, Brandt Snedeker, and Jim Furyk as the fourth FedExCup champion to join the field.

The U will provide a variety of seating options including a second story covered bar deck.
New for 2018, the Valero Texas Open is excited to announce the debut of its newest hospitality venue, The U. Formerly known as the Patio, The U is redesigned in the shape of a U to wrap around three sides of the 16th tee box. The U will offer stunning views of the 16th hole, 15th hole, 11th hole, and beyond from this multi-level, open-air venue.

To add more excitement to this upgraded experience, the Valero Texas Open has partnered with local colleges and universities to give back through the sale of The U tickets. Each participating college or university will receive 15% of the proceeds from every ticket purchased by their students, alumni and fan base.

Single day tickets to The U may be purchased for $80, so 1,000 tickets sold by one of our participating colleges or universities will yield a $12,000 donation back to them from the Valero Texas Open!

The U will provide a variety of seating options and views for ticket holders to enjoy including covered, tiered seating, a second story covered bar deck, and patios with umbrella table seating.

Concessions including bar service will be available for purchase within the venue along with daily happy hour drink specials. Luxury Restrooms, multiple television screens, and other guest amenities will make this THE place to be at the Valero Texas Open.

Join in the school spirit and help the Valero Texas Open raise charitable funds while reconnecting with college friends, alumni and staff.

Colleges and universities partnering on The U include:
